Hello,
I am moving to the USA and I want to take my 2 guinea pigs with me.
From where I live to the US it takes 11 hours.
Is this possible and do they get a trauma maybe?

Good day, I am wondering if I can ask a question regarding cat behaviour. I have two resident cats- the male is seven (very chilled) and the female is four (she high strung as she was rescued from the streets at six weeks). When we first got our female, it took her two months to get used to the other animals and about two years to get used to visitors (she would run out the house and only come back in once they left).

Yesterday we had to go rescue two kittens that were at risk of being eaten by a wild cat. The kittens are much younger than I thought (five weeks about, they do play but don’t seem to want to try solid food yet). Anyway, because of our housing situation, we don’t have the opportunity to keep the cats and kittens separated in different rooms. The male cat came, sniffed the kittens and went along his merry way. The female cat (the already high strung one) is having a hard time adjusting and maybe I’m too impatient, but I’m worried that this is going to be a permanent situation. She hissed at one of the kittens when she saw it and has mostly been out the house since. She doesn’t want to lie on top of the bird cage (her safe place) and she doesn’t want to eat her soft food (she does eat her chunks and any treat I give her).

I’ve been giving her tons of treats and love when I see her, and she purrs when I’m giving her love but she doesn’t seem comfortable in her home now and it makes me sad. We haven’t forced any interaction between them and again maybe I’m being impatient, but I guess because the other cat is fine, and the dogs are fine, I want them ALL to be fine. Is there anything I can do to help my female cat feel better? Both adult cats have been fixed. Thank you for your time.

Hi, my dog is a Lab/ grate dang mix and is 80lbs last weight about 6 months ago. She ate about 5-7 grapes in total about an hour ago. She seems fine, she’s just sleeping, but I’ve researched it can take up to 24hrs before any symptoms to occur. Is there anything I can do to help her? I don’t have a way to get too a vet right away

Hi I have a 6 year old Havenese named Bianca. Over the years I have noticed she has had pretty bad allergies/hot spots but we manage them pretty well. Recently she is an absolute disaster. Her entire back, belly, legs, neck are a flaming red and she is constantly itching herself. She is on fire and miserable she cant even sleep at night. I have no idea what caused it ir what to do. We know its not her food because she eats Instinct Raw. I applied Frontline Plus a little over a week ago and had her bathed/groomed yesterday. Right now Im just smothering her in coconut oil and aloe vera juice but is there anything else I can do? She is do miserable it breaks my heart.

Hello,

I recently adopted a 5-6 year old English Bulldog. She has been caged her entire life as a breeding dog before joining our family. We live in a very humid city and I take her to walks as often as possible when the sun goes down.

Recently, we realised that she has 2 bumps that has pus on her ingrown tail and there wasn’t any foul odor. We tried to empty the pus then clean and dried her wound. It has been 2 weeks and the situation isn’t any better or hasn’t gotten any worse, but it is a little painful upon touch but our she’s a real tough girl. We used to bathe her once every 3 days since she used to have really sticky fur (not anymore), but our friend recommend us to bathe her once every week instead.. We are cautious to keep her fur dry because we know that moist skin are prone to infections.

Her tail always had problems ever since we adopted her, we were told that her previous owner cut her tail off, but we suspect that she’s born with an ingrown tail. We made 4 visits to the vet in less than 6months and every visit cost us more than half a thousand, we really hope to seek for an alternative choice. Hope that you can give us some suggestions… Thanks in advance.

So my hamster was attacked by my other one..
Long story short, u just noticed and they’ve been in the same cage together for quite a while, but don’t worry, it’s in a separate one now.
She has a sore on the top of her head, and her right eye is basically cut and red with puss. I don’t know if she’s in pain because she’s acting normal, but I want to help her in anyway I can until it heals. What should I do? I can’t run to the vet at this time, so how can I help her in my own home?

I actually own a Labrador retriever which is 2 years old I mated her on 5th & 7th of November she is been giving a reddish brown discharge for the past 4 days since its been 40 days from mating this discharge seems to increase in quantity each day it was droplets early now its in semi solid form and today evening the entire poop was mixed with that discharge , Ive been giving her suppliments such as verol and ostopet for the past 3 days but the discharge was from a day before starting the suppliments ; she seems to be healthy and active but am worried weather this would be anything serious, ive been giving her curd rice for the past 4 days as recommended by my vet , but this discharge is giving me sleepless nights pls help me

Recently, we took in an approximately one-year-old female cat that was abandoned. She’s skinny and still weak, but doing better, except for one thing: we believe she might have demodectic mange. She presents with the scaly face and ears, but no intense itching. Our main concern is this: now WE’RE all getting itchy. No rash, just a lot of itch. Is it demodex or some other skin disease, and how do we get rid of it?

I am writing to request for an urgent Skype consultation for our dog Oreo – 5 year old female, a combination of Spitz and Pomeranian. Oreo started bleeding through her anus over a month ago, and our vet provided with five days antibiotic shots. She was experiencing watery and loose stools at the same time. The vet mentioned that this could be some form of a worm. Her condition did not improve, and he suggested we provide her with the worm/bacteria medicine but there is still no improvement in her. She still has extremely loose stool and she has been losing significant amount of weight.

We were scheduled to do her rabies shots, and annual shots (she was not given anti-flu and annual vaccination this year) for the year before she is transported to Netherlands from Bangladesh (I am now based in the Netherlands now and she is staying with my family in Bangladesh). But, until she gets better we cannot do any of that. We cannot fully trust the vets in Bangladesh also due to their lack of experience and feel extremely helpless at this stage. They do not seem to run any tests and just provide medications- it seems at this stage Oreo has become immune to antibiotics. She is a small dog and has been given so much medicine already that we are really worried. The last advice that we received was to give her yogurt which will help clear her digestive system- I understand this breed of dogs cannot be given diary products and it can be dangerous to do so.

We would be so enormously grateful if you could help us with any advice, or suggestions.

Hi ,
I have a 9 year old Persian cat . As we are moving to another country we had took her to her new owner’s house for 2 days. After she returned home she suddenly became very aggressive and attacked me and every other person at home. I suppose it must be an issue with an overdose. She has a type of food that is given to her occasionally but as she has been away from home , the new owner has given her more of that food to calm her down. The food contains catnip. I would be truly grateful if you could kindly help me to know if the problem is a panic attack due to being away from home or it is an overdose.moreover, I would be happy to know what I can do.

I have a female pet dog (Labrador) of 8 years old. She had tumours in her 3-4 nipples for one and a half months. Her veterinarian doctor told us to go for a surgery. We did so. Now, after one week of the surgery I have noticed that her front right and rear legs are swollen up. Her chest is also having a soft bulging appearance. Her doctor said that she might have mammary cancer. But he hasn’t done any tests to get a confirmation. Can you tell me; are these symptoms really the symptoms of cancer?
She has normal diet and normally active. The doctor did a chest x-ray before surgery. There was nothing to worry about. The area of surgery is not swelled up. She is licking too much on the surgery portion.

Sorry, that sounds very sad. It sounds like he may have something causing the seizures that may not be epilepsy, such as problem with his sugar (diabetes or low sugar) or his liver or possibly a cancer. Unfortunately I cannot tell you on the internet what is causing this and without knowing the cause I cannot recommend treatment. The only way would be a blood or urine sample posted to a vet hospital if you are in a remote area.

I live in Ethiopia, where even humans have difficulty getting proper health care. My dog is a 7 years and half old tibetian spaniel. His name is Lou. About three years ago he started having seizures. It happened about once a month. Then June 2014 he became paralyzed for three days and recovered. Then I read in the internet about children’s multivitamin syrup and gave him every other day with food. It seemed to have helped. It was only once or twice that the seizure happened during the past one year. Now exactly one year after that another paralysis happened a month ago. This time it lasted this long and now he is constantly turning round and round, staggering and sleeping a lot. He used to drink a lot but since a few days he is not drinking or eating enough. From my reading in the internet I tried to change his diet to fresh protein only diet. Still, he has gradually lost his eye sight. He recognizes me and wags his tail when I come from work. He stopped going out of the house because of the stairs and urinates inside. And since he can not raise his legs he sometimes falls on his urine. He does not want me to touch him and I could not clean him. He stopped defecating since he stopped going out. I took my vacation to care for him. Is there any way that I can help him? I do not want to euthanize him. Please advice!

Alright here’s my story. This is regarding my Dads’ 15 year old Shih Tzu, Henry. He’s also been a part of my life for those 15 years, and he’s the reason my Dad got through a rough patch. He’s been a happy dog for all these years but we know he’s getting close to the end. I would just like some advice, as we don’t like seeing him like this. We don’t have a lot of money and can’t afford to go see a vet. A few days ago my Dad had noticed a pus-filled blister popped under one of his ears. It’s leaking a very foul odor and is also getting into one of his eyes, causing it to stay shut. He also hasn’t been eating so much lately, only drinking water. My Dad tried to clear the blister out, gave him a hair cut around the area and gave him a bath which seemed to only perk him up for a little while. We can tell it’s bothering him because he keeps putting his head to the side, so much so that he’s not really focused on anything else. It gets to the point where he’s falling over. He no longer walks around when we put him in the back yard, he stays in one spot. I understand that 15 years is a long time for a dog. Its upsetting to see him this way. We’re just keeping him close right now. I’m wondering if there’s anything we can do to help him? Or if you have any advice on what could be going on? (Other than old age) Thank you in advance for any response!

my 4 month old kitten is smelling bad sometimes even though she is clean. I tried giving it a bath (tough work!), i wipe it everyday with a wet towel. sometimes i use hand wipes that contain fragrance only when i cant handle its smell… i noticed frequent flatulence too. what can i do to solve this? HELP

I have three Desert Tortoises, two boys and one girl. Of the three of them, the girl is the most active one. The boys sleep a lot of the time and I was wanting to know if that is normal for them or should they too be active? They also like to eat grass, nibble a little on the aloe vera plant, and they do drink water, they also like lettuce. I too was wondering what else I should be feeding them? Or are they ok?

Feed: Iams ProActive Health (eats until full apprx 3-4 cups daily; no routine/schedule). Been on since 10 months old.
Exercise: 30-60 min/day full out running (tennis ball fetch)

**No other known health issues other then below.**

For about 3 weeks.

My dog Kylie has had a sore on her right rear leg on the outer side of the heel/ankle(?). It is about the size of a nickel and is a light grey color mixed with her regular skin color. It has the same feel as the pads of her foot even so far as being smooth in one direction and slight rough in the other when rubbed.

The area is completely hairless.

The sore is dry and not exposed/open (?) other then the area she keeps biting at which has become raw, moist and fleshy whitish pink. This ‘raw’ are was bigger when I first noticed it and has subsequently shrunk since then as I vigilantly keep her from biting it as much as possible.
The area is raised and can be grabbed and pulled/moved. The “mass” that has formed is slightly spongy but firm (feels more like swelling then a lump or fat deposit).

The area has not gotten bigger nor shrunk in the past 3 weeks or so. There are no signs of other sores.

The ‘raw’ area does slightly bleed on and off. Enough so that small smudges of blood are noticeable on my white comforter.

I have been treating the area by cleaning the ‘raw’ part with warm water and alternating between triple antibiotic and hydrocortisone cream. When applied she does not go unattended for several hours and it kept from the treated area so as not to lick the cream/ointment off.

As noted the ‘raw’ area has shrunk but the total size of the sore has not.

**Potentially pertinent information**
The dog does get frequent ear infections even with routine cleaning (has the golden floppy ears and loves water -my vet has said this is normal-)

The dog require anal gland expression semi-regularly to avoid impacted/smelly leakage. (was advised this is a common issue)

**Grooming**

Brushed weekly – bi-weekly w/under coat brush (furminator). The affected area is rarely if ever brushed.

Bathed every 3-4 weeks. Generally with just water and baking soda mix occasionally with tea tree or oatmeal shampoo if noticeable dander (rare). Has not had a reaction to either in the 3 1/2 years I’ve used them.

Any advise you could give me on treatment and/or what this could be, if it is anything more then a hotspot or standard skin irritation, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Laura,

Kittens will often produce a stool after every meal, so normally produce at least 3-4 stools over the day and they are usually softer than those of an adult cat. They’re not normally very flatulent though.Perhaps try an alternative brand of food – Hills science, Royal Canin kitten or Iams are all good.

Keep the wound/lump clean with salt water and make sure he stays hydrated – drinks enough.if he isn’t drinking please give him water with a dropper.

Henry is a 12 week (or so) old kitten. He came to me as a stray and has since been vaccinated, de-wormed and de-fleaed.
He is currently producing 5-6 stools/day, soft but usually well formed. He is also flatuent. Diet: purina supercoat for kittens, water intake seems good. His abdomen seems a little swollen but he is quite active and doesn’t seem too troubled.

Just wondering if this is normal, it seems excessive in comparison to other cats I’ve had.

I think my gerbil has something in/on the side of its mouth maybe like an abcess or tumour?. My Gerbil is still quite lively but now and again he just stops and goes to sleep.. he is still eating (but much slower than before) and he is also still drinking. I have crushed some of his food up so that the lump is not disturbed too much. I think it has been bleeding a little. I have rung the vets but they have no appointments until Mon. What is the best thing to do?

Just take her for a consult and have her vaccines against rabies done. Get a certificate from your vet to show your landlord that she has been vaccinated.

hey, so my land needs to know that cat doesnt have rabies or anything, so i need a vet to check my cat out, but i dont want her spayed or anthing, so what do i do?
